Gamcha is a small Danish brand based in Borup, Denmark, that designs children's interior items and accessories handmade in Nepal. It began when founder Ane Hansen first visited Nepal in 2009 and fell in love with the country. She and her father were drawn to the traditional handicrafts made in small workshops and wanted to bring them to Europe while supporting the makers. Together with Shanti and Nirjala, who started a felt production in 2004, Gamcha designs products for the European market. Today, more than 125 women are employed with fair pay and treatment, giving them an independent income that is rare for women in Nepal. The range includes handmade felt mobiles and decorations, organic cotton bed linen with playful illustrated motifs, and cashmere pieces with handmade embroidery.
